A Note for (DISC) D's | Rush's Take
Oct 31, 2023For full transparency, below is an early DiSC finding of mine. I am often perceived as a C, and certainly in my elder years, as patience wears off, that’s understandable! This iteration of DiSC (called Extended DiSC) reports both your Natural Style and the Perceived Need to Adjust. There’s not much real “I" one way or the other.
In respect to the “D” character…
I have many friends (well, OK, acquaintances; or maybe I just have met) D’s in my time. In 8 decades, 5 spent working with entrepreneurs and corporate leaders, I’ve met all kinds.
Because of their own characteristics, those characteristics that make them D’s, D’s, they often seem self-conscious and attempt to foist off some of the less desirably perceived characteristics they know they possess. Direct and demanding, strong-willed, driven, and determined, D-styles tend to be outspoken, but can be rather skeptical and questioning of others. Tough sledding for those attempting to work in a D-run environment and, as the “D” matures, and realizes that that style can’t accomplish everything, and the others (particularly the C’s) will often resist conforming to the D’s preferences, therefore causing some roadblocks to productive actions, the D might smarten up, and show greater appreciation for the others.
The “D” character is represented by the national bird of America: the eagle!
A favorite saying of the reborn D is, “It’s just my nature.” as if that fact makes the previously boorish behavior acceptable.
There is no question that the reconstituted D, when on best behavior, can bring the leadership, inspiration and confidence it takes to lead!
So…D’s, take note, it seems to take a community of styles to get things done. Cherish that fact!
